What is uVu?
uVu (pronounced “you-view”) is a video sharing website and companion digital broadcast channel powered by WPBT Channel 2, South Florida ’s PBS station. The website consists of video content created and submitted to the site by individuals, community groups and cultural/educational institutions, which allows the community to experience, at any time, the important happenings of South Florida .  

What kinds of videos are shown on uVu?
uVu contains four sections of content:

  • The Classics – Clips of past local programming and previews of upcoming WPBT productions.
  • The Exclusives – Content creaed specifically for uVu and produced by Channel 2, including clips from local events.
  • Speaker’s Corner – Through local partnerships, this section contains content ranging from lectures by writers and speakers to local community-based performances and forums.
  • Vlogger Café – User submitted content, generated by citizen “correspondents” and uploaded to uVu.
 
What format is the video, and what browser plug-ins do I need?
Videos on uVu are embedded on the site in Quicktime format, using H.264 compression type. A recent version of the Quicktime browser plug-in is required to view videos.
How do I search for videos?
On the home page, click on one of the four colored sections to browse the video content in that group. While exploring the site, you can click on “browse videos” in the menu bar to return to a page with the four sections. Alternatively, you can use the "Browse by Category" box on the left-hand side of most pages.

You can also find video clips by keyword or subject using the search function at the top of the page. Results are displayed by relevance to your search terms.

Can I download videos to my computer?
No, videos on uVu are embedded within the page to protect the content of the author.

Do I have to register to watch videos?
No, registration is not required to watch videos. Registration is only required to post comments or upload your own videos.
What is a VuFinder?
A VuFinder is simply a registered member of uVu. By registering as a VuFinder, you are able to upload video content, post comments about videos, participate in surveys to improve service and be eligible to receive updates about changes to the site.
How do I submit a video for uVu?
The first step to submitting a video is registering as a VuFinder. Only registered members of uVu can submit videos.

The next step is to visit the “upload your Vu” section of the website (accessed through the site’s menu bar) and follow the instructions on the page.

How do I add/post comments about videos?
Comments can be viewed and posted on each individual video page just below the video itself. You must be a VuFinder, or registered member, to post comments.

Comments are the opinions of the users and WPBT Channel 2 is not responsible for their content. Comments are monitored and messages that violate uVu’s rules of conduct will be deleted and users may be removed from the site.
